The smoking ban makes no sense to Serena Stier, bartender at Moola’s Bar in downtown Jordan, and she thinks it will hurt small town bars like hers, which only serve pizza. Alcohol and smoking goes together at her business.
“It’s like saying you can’t drink in the bars no more,” she said.

Although both are smokers, Gina Monnie of New Prague and Shawn Brinkman of Jordan disagreed about the smoking ban as they took a smoke break outside Jack's Bar and Grill in downtown Jordan. Monnie thinks the ban will improve people's health; Brinkman doesn't believe it's right to restrict a legal activity in a private business.

“We believe this is the biggest step forward in the state for our health in decades,” Dr. James Rohde of Shakopee said. He helped push for the ban was a former chairman and member of the Hennepin Medical Society

Because of the high ceilings, Monday night poker players at Turle's 1890 Social Centre said the lack of smoking on the first day of the ban didn’t make much of a difference inside. Smokers shuffled in and out of the banquet hall in downtown Shakopee all night long for smoke breaks.
